obligatory election day post
I was going to do this over at codexed, but surprise of all surprises, it’s down. Boo.
(Speaking of codexed, does anyone else remember the clusterfuck that was the forums during the last US presidental election, or remember wanting to smother a certain republican poster girl the day after? mmm. me toooo)
4 years ago tonight, I voted, went to work, argued with the republicans, then came home, tried to comisserate with some online friends, and almost got to the point where I would swear off Anton forever. That day is the reason I won’t discuss politics at work. I hate it. I’m much happier not knowing how someone stands on an issue then knowing and having it color the way I treat them at work.
Of course, me not discussing politics doesn’t stop everyone else from talking about it. I’ll be glad after the big buzz tomorrow, it’ll be OVER for a few years. I find both McCain and Obama lovers crazy, and I’m glad that when I voted, I didn’t give in to the popularity contest that is the two part system.
I voted 2 weeks ago, so today doesn’t have the same anxiety it normally does when I actually go to the polls. I just want to know who won so I can go to bed.
I talked to my gram today- she and her boyfriend have been working for the DNC this election, which is awesome. I love that my 71 year old gram has been out on the campaign trail, putting up signs, and just being awesome. I’d think the same thing no matter which party she was working for, but I love my gram.
